Film Reviews: Freak (2010) - By Brian Morton
Posted on Saturday, July 02, 2011 @ 21:31:25 Mountain Daylight Time by Duane

Being an outcast can sometime be difficult. But, as we all know, sometimes being an outcast is tough when you're younger but can pay off big time as you get older. Well, a new short from Eric Casaccio, call (appropriately) Freak, gives us one such scenario.

Randall is kind of a strange guy, he's got a whole different persona he puts on called, Sophia. Yes, Randall likes to dress in women's clothing and suddenly it might pay off. You see, Randall has a script that calls for him to feel like an outcast because of how he dresses! As he rehearses, he forgets himself and wanders outside, only to meet up with a neighbor, Dale, who happens to be the handsome, leading man type. Dale can't help but laugh at Randall in his dress and make up, making Randall feel that much more of an outsider. I won't give away the ending, but let's just say that it'll give you a bit of hope if you've ever felt like an outcast yourself!

I'm giving Freak 3 out of 4 cigars, it's probably not for everyone, but if you just give it a little time, you'll soon find yourself on Randall's side and rooting him on to success! You can find out where you can see this amazing short by heading over to http://www.freakthefilm.com.
