Hi there,

My name is Russell Sheaffer. I'm an experimental filmmaker, visual
artist, and a Ph.D. student at Indiana University, and am knee deep in
a project that called Masculinity/Femininity that feature performances
by some phenomenal individuals including James Franco, Barbara Hammer,
Monika Treut, Linda Williams, B. Ruby Rich, Jack Halberstam, John
Greyson, and Harry Benshoff, but I need your help.

“Masculinity/Femininity” is an experimental film based project that
aims to question normative notions of gender. Shot primarily on Super
8mm film, the project operates as a cross between academic and
practical critique -- acting more as a document of gender construction
rather than a documentary about gender construction.

Ultimately, the project asks filmmakers, scholars, and artists of all
kinds to "perform" (in any way they like) a piece that deals with the
issues at the heart of normativity and gender construction (prompted
by some extremely loaded questions about “masculinity” and masculine
identity from a leading men’s magazine that Monika Treut and I adapted
for “women”).

In order to continue the project, pay for film and travel, and get the
project ready to greet the world, we desperately need to raise some
funds. I’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to try to raise at least
enough to pay for essentials and would really appreciate it if you
could post about the project -- it would make a massive difference for
this completely independent experimental project.
